Yes, completely. We email you a prepaid, fully insured shipping label - you just drop the box at your nearest Post Office. We carry the transit risk, not you: if anything happens to your Mac on its way to us, you're covered for the full quoted value. It costs you nothing.

We do - cracked screens, water damage, dead batteries, Macs that won't turn on - as long as it is an Apple Silicon Mac, M1-generation or newer. You get a quote for a faulty machine without emailing photos. The only things we can't buy are Intel Macs and iCloud-locked devices.

Every Mac we buy is erased to NIST 800-88 data-sanitisation standards before it goes anywhere near resale. That's the same standard used by government and enterprise IT. We still recommend signing out of iCloud and wiping the machine yourself first - our guides show you exactly how.

Try the free checks first: 30 minutes on a known-good charger, a 10-second hold of the power button, then another cable or charger. If it stays dead, don't pay for a diagnosis or a logic-board repair - out-of-warranty board work often costs more than the gap between a dead and a working price.

Go to icloud.com/find on any phone or computer, sign in with the Apple ID used on the Mac, pick it from the device list, choose Erase Mac and then Remove from Account. This works with the Mac switched off, because the lock lives on Apple's servers, not the machine. Do it before you post.

Yes, as long as the battery isn't swollen or damaged. Royal Mail carries laptops with the battery installed but prohibits damaged batteries. If the bottom case or trackpad is bulging, tell us in the quote form and we'll confirm the right way to get it to us rather than using the standard label.

No. Even with a failed logic board the display assembly, top case, keyboard, trackpad, battery and speakers hold value to a specialist buyer. That's why the band is 30-45% of working value rather than zero. You don't need to know which part failed - 'won't turn on' plus the model is enough for a fixed quote.

Almost never. Apple charges £300-£600 for an out-of-warranty display replacement, while a cracked-screen MacBook sells for 45-55% of working value as it is. The repair rarely adds more to the sale price than it costs, so you'd be paying to hand value to the next owner. Sell it as-is and keep the money.

You don't need the screen. From any phone or computer go to icloud.com/find, sign in with the Mac's Apple ID, select the MacBook, choose Erase Mac and then Remove from Account. That releases Activation Lock remotely. We erase every Mac to NIST 800-88 on arrival regardless, so your data is covered.

No. Our quote is for the MacBook itself; the charger, box and receipt are optional. If you have the genuine Apple charger and want it counted, include it and say so in the form. Newer MacBooks sold in the UK ship without a charger anyway, so a missing adapter is normal, not a fault.

A little on a like-new machine, nothing worth chasing on a used one. Grading is about the Mac: screen, body, battery and function. If you have the box, use it as the inner packaging; if not, any double-walled box with 5cm of padding is fine and our free insured label covers it.

No. What matters is that the Mac is yours to sell and signed out of iCloud, with Activation Lock removed. We verify the serial number and lock status on arrival. A receipt is useful to keep for your own records, but it isn't required for a normal sale.

No. Stickers, scuffs, dents and scratches are graded, not rejected. Light wear grades Good; heavy dents, deep scratches or cracked corners grade Fair - the exact criteria are on our grading page. Peel stickers off if you can; residue doesn't matter. The quote is fixed once the grade matches your description.

It won't be held against you, but it doesn't add anything either - we only count a genuine Apple adapter, and only if you choose to include it. Keep a third-party charger for your next machine. The MagSafe or USB-C cable is likewise optional and makes no difference to the quote.

Apple's UK tech specs for the current MacBook Pro and MacBook Air list only a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable in the box, with the power adapter sold separately. A current-generation Mac with no charger is simply how it was sold and has no effect on your quote.
