What is a revised offer, and why does it happen?
Every postal buyer prices a MacBook twice. The first price comes from what you tell the website: model, condition, any faults. The second comes from a technician with the machine on the bench. When the two disagree, the buyer revises. musicMagpie's help centre calls this a regrade: the device is checked for cosmetic condition and function, and if it does not match the condition chosen on the order, a revised offer is emailed with the new price and the reasons for it.
The reasons its pages list are the ones any refurbisher looks for: wear that differs from the grade you picked, functional faults, intermittent issues, liquid damage and camera faults. On a MacBook the usual culprits are worn screen coating, a battery macOS flags for service, dents on the lid corners and sticky keys. None of that is unusual, and a regrade is not an accusation. It is the gap between a checklist filled in at home and a bench test.
Read the reasons in the email slowly, though. A revision for a battery that already showed 'Service Recommended' on your Mac is fair. A revision for scratches you do not recognise, or a fault the Mac never showed you, is worth a polite question before you respond.

Accept, decline or ignore: what each one really means
Accepting closes the sale at the revised figure. musicMagpie is clear that the decision cannot be undone once made, so do not click through in a hurry just to make the email go away.
Declining brings the MacBook home. musicMagpie states the return is free of charge and that you are emailed tracking once it has been sent. Its pages also say it cannot guarantee returning accessories posted with the device, such as chargers, cases, manuals or original packaging, so if the charger went in the box, factor that in.
Silence is a decision too. musicMagpie says that if you neither accept nor decline within the window stated in the email, the revised offer is accepted automatically and paid. If you are undecided, set a reminder well before that deadline.
How to get a second quote you can actually compare
A second quote only helps if it describes the same machine the technician saw. Use the regrade email as your checklist: if it mentions the battery, say so; if it names a cosmetic grade, choose ours honestly from the grading criteria. Before you post a MacBook to any buyer
Most revisions trace back to three things, and all three can be checked at home. In System Settings, open Battery and look at Battery Health: 'Service Recommended' will almost always move a price. Look at the screen on a plain white background for coating wear and pressure marks. Then test every key, both speakers, the camera and each port.
