Should I repair a cracked iPhone screen before selling?
Usually not before you have a quote. Apple publishes its own screen repair prices on its support site, and an independent shop may be cheaper but may fit a part that is not Apple's. Ask for a quote with the screen as it is first. If the phone has already been repaired, say so in the message box. iPhones list replaced parts under Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History, and a screen, battery or camera that is not a genuine Apple part shows there, so it will be seen at inspection anyway.
What if my iPhone will not turn on?
Choose "No power at all". Before you do, try a known-good USB-C cable and charger for half an hour, then force a restart. On these models that is a quick press of volume up, a quick press of volume down, then holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.
A dead phone cannot be signed out on the handset, so do it from a browser: sign in at iCloud.com, open Find Devices, select the iPhone and remove it from your account. That lets us pay you once it arrives, even though the screen never lights up.
How do I describe liquid damage?
Answer "Spilled on" if the phone has been in water or had a drink over it, even if it seems fine now. iPhones in this range are splash and water resistant, not waterproof, and corrosion can show up later. Apple's advice is not to charge an iPhone while its port is wet, so let it dry before you test whether it charges.
Do photos help with a broken iPhone?
Yes. Photos are optional, but the form says they get you a firmer price. Up to four: the front, the back, the screen switched on, and a close-up of the damage. A photo of a crack under good light answers the questions an inspector would otherwise ask when the phone arrives.

Do you buy an iPhone with a cracked back but a working screen?
Yes. Choose "No damage" for the screen and tick "Back glass cracked" under "Anything not working?". Cracked back glass is common on iPhones with glass backs and is quoted rather than refused. Include a photo of the back if you can, because the form notes photos get you a firmer price.
Will you buy an iPhone that won't turn on?
Yes, if it is an iPhone 15, 16 or 17. Choose "No power at all" in the form. Remove it from your Apple Account first at iCloud.com, in Find Devices, because we can only pay once it is signed out of iCloud and a dead phone cannot be signed out on the handset.
Does a non-Apple screen or battery change the quote?
It can, so tell us in the message box. iPhones show replaced parts under Settings, General, About, Parts and Service History, and a part that is not genuine is listed there. Describing it up front is what keeps the quote you accept the same when the phone is inspected.
Can I sell a broken iPhone that is still locked to iCloud?
Only once you sign it out. If it is your phone and you know the Apple Account password, remove it from Find Devices at iCloud.com and it becomes sellable. We cannot pay for an iPhone that is still linked to an account, broken or working.
